Arrived Cairns 6am. Taxi from airport to Holiday Inn hotel.
Room not ready. Had coffee and loitered in hotel lobby. Saw the most weird fish on sea shore. Obviously amphibious and “walking” across sand between rock pools. About 6 inches long. Walked into town. Bought sun cream, cough medicine and Q tips. Back to hotel. Ben nearly asleep on feet. Room still not ready. Slept in lobby! Got room about 10? Better view than one that had been reserved for us! Set alarm for 1pm and slept.
Woke Ben (with difficulty!) and walked into town again. Bought hats. Ate at Chinese buffet place in the eating section of Night Market. Nice but took too much! Went to look at the hotel with zoo in, but decided it was too dear to visit. Back to hotel.
