It was 5:20 this morning. My neighbour wasn’t being unduly noisy, but there were sounds of chatting. I guess that combined with the temperature was enough to wake me. Normally I would sleep through that much noise, but perhaps I am also hyper sensitive at the moment or something.
So I decided to make my way into work early, on the basis that I could get some extra things done in the relative cool of the early morning, and then perhaps leave a bit early tonight (which I did)
It was amazing – I caught the 6:25 train from Kloten which was a shorter train than the one I normally catch at 7:25. That seems to be the way they cater for Sundays and variable traffic. Same number of trains, just less carriages. Anyway, even at that time of the day there were lots of people hurrying to work. Perhaps they all work flexitime, or perhaps they are just very diligent, but I found it surprising.
A good day at work today – managed to achieve lots. And very much enjoyed leaving early this evening.
I meant to say how fortunate I feel having found an apartment when I did. There is a really slow trickle of places being advertised at the moment, and most of the ones I see are unsuitable due to location, or are not available until October – that sort of thing.
Had just finished chatting to Ben on Skype this evening and the broadband connection disappeared (again). It’s been pretty variable here in the apartments, but usually comes back fairly soon. Well, it was gone for several minutes so I decided to go for an explore. I have been wanting to visit the Carrefour hypermarket in Dietlikon and I noticed that it was open until 9pm, so I set off to see if I could find it. In retrospect, a map would have been a useful addition, but I thought I could sniff out a huge shop at 1 mile distance. Well I reached Dietlikon and walked in the direction I felt was the most appropriate, but sadly did not find it. I finished up walking back to Bassersdorf, which is the place I walked to from Kloten the other evening. I then caught a train back to Kloten. Looking at the map, I find that if I had walked the OTHER direction from the train station, I would probably have found Carrefour. Never mind, at least I got some exercise, and now I know where it is for next time. I am stunned at how warped my sense of direction was though. I was sure that Dietlikon was North East of Kloten, but in fact it is South East!
