I had a headache when I woke up this morning, so I took some pills to make it go away. However, it didn’t help when I walked into an open cupboard door as I was getting my breakfast shake ready and banged my head! I still have the bruise to show for it!
And then the 7:25 train was about 15 minutes late – no I don’t think this is sufficient of a news story to have made the front page in the UK broadsheets, but it did make me later for work than I would have liked to be!
Other than that, it’s been a pretty good day. Have achieved a fair bit at work.
Best news is that when I got back to the apartment, my copy of the contract for the new apartment was here waiting for me. Looks like I really am set to move at the beginning of August. I just hope she is happy to give me the key early so I can move in on 1st August, which is a public holiday here. It would be SO tidy to be able to use this day that I cannot work to be able to do a leisurely 2 or 3 journeys back and forward, rather than having to try and do it on a work day, with the associated rush.
After the call with Mum and Ben tonight, I ventured back to Dietlikon to find Carrefour. I did – and it’s no big shakes! At least I have now satisfied my curiosity and know where it is, should I need it. Nearby there is an enormous Ikea store and it looks like another shopping mall with a Media Markt store etc., like the one in Sihl City near work. There is also a cinema.
Interestingly the only British shop that seems to have made it here is C&A. There are several quite large branches around Zurich. No sign of Boots, Debenhams, Woolworths, Millets and the other high street brands we are so used to. You can find McDonalds and Burger King in most towns, but they are Worldwide!
