This morning before work I decided to go to the office in Zurich to register. Amazing that they don’t have a centralised system here. Every time you move from one district to another you have to un-register and then re-register. And that will be another 20 Francs thank you very much.
We had two new people start at work today. One full time permanent (as opposed to contractor like me) and the other a student on some kind of work placement scheme. Based on my experiences a month ago, we were able to get both of them set up and running with their computers within a couple of hours! Amazing to think it took me several days! Still, glad that we have learned from this and improved for these newbies!
I found out today that my salary is in the bank! I was able to pop up to the bank and arrange to send an amount back to the UK account. Nice feeling. It doesn’t compensate for being alone in Zurich, away from my family, but it is one of the reasons I am here.
After work I went back to Ikea to buy a mattress and carried it back to the apartment on buses and trains. Thankfully it was rolled and quite easy to transport. Now all I have to do is find some pillows at a decent price.
My local supermarket had an offer on lager yesterday. 12 cans for less than £4! I couldn’t resist at that price. So much cheaper than at home. Nice to have a few cans in the fridge.
