After a leisurely start, we walked from our hotel through the Botanical Gardens to Circular Quay to catch a ferry to Manly.
I should mention that in the Botanical Gardens we found a flock of white cockatoos which were very tame. I managed to persuade one to sit on my hand, but he was a bit violent and kept chewing at my fingers! A wonderful experience nevertheless.
The ferry trip to Manly was 30 minutes and it was a beautiful sunny trip. We got some lovely views of Sydney Harbour from the water.
On arrival in Manly, we walked along the coastal walk to a beach where we enjoyed peering into rock pools. We then walked back towards the ferry terminal for snacks. After this, we walked along Manly main street and discovered another ocean-facing beach at the other end. Ben enjoyed digging in the sand for a long while and got very sandy. It was a bit cool sitting on the beach.
We got a ferry back to Sydney and then a train into the main shopping area where we bought a new watch for Ben from Woolworths. After a fish and chip supper at the Circular Quay, we returned to our hotel and packed the cases ready for an early start tomorrow morning.
Sydney kindly laid on fireworks for our last night in the city!
