A short walk, and two trains brought us to the airport in good time. The first train was very busy and there was no place for us to put our cases, so we got in the way of all the commuters! The second train was much less busy and more relaxed.
Our flight was delayed about 30 minutes, but otherwise went smoothly. It is only one and a half hours to Brisbane. On the plane with us was a rugby team from Ilawara? so we were met by the press with TV cameras etc., and loads of fans looking for autographs!
I had arranged to hire a car with Hertz so using the Gold membership I just had to go to the kiosk, show my driving licence and leave with a car. It was a lovely white Hyundai Grandeuri. Our three cases fit in the boot!
TomTom guided us smoothly to our hotel on the South side of Brisbane – a Radisson hotel. We were using some loyalty points from my time staying with Radisson in Dublin /Limerick, and we had got a really good deal at this hotel. Good enough for Alison, Elizabeth, Michael and Ellie to come and join us for two days.
The hotel was lovely. The others had gone out for a meal, so Ben and I hit the swimming pool.
